Rockgas
LPG: the Fuel for Motor Vehicles
Fuel Savings
Rockgas automotive LPG can produce significant savings
compared to petrol. A dedicated LPG Ford Falcon costs
only $1500 more than a petrol version and a typical
conversion may cost anywhere between between $3000 - $5000.
After you’ve recouped that, you'll save on every
litre purchased. For the bottom line savings with your
current fuel prices and kilometres, contact the Fuelcard
Administrator on 0800 807 300 or use the Rockgas calculator.
Rockgas also offers interest-free
loans to cover the extra costs of purchasing a new
dedicated LPG vehicle or conversion. Contact our Rockgas
Fuelcard administrator to see if you qualify.
Always use a Rockgas
Fuelcard for maximum savings. It's accepted at around
300 locations nationally and offers additional benefits.
Performance
Ford and Holden supply cars with factory-installed
LPG engines. With these quality vehicles, there's no
noticeable performance difference between petrol and
Rockgas LPG. Taxi professionals and the media across
New Zealand have received them with great enthusiasm.
The only difference you'll notice is reduced fuel costs.
The standard of local after-market conversions has improved
greatly, and can also deliver reduced operating costs.
Think seriously about paying more for a higher quality
conversion as it will generally more than pay for itself
in lower fuel and reduced service costs.
99
RON
LPG’s 99 octane rating means performance without
compromise. Rockgas LPG’s naturally high octane
rating delivers increased torque without causing destructive
‘knocking’ to the engine.
Unlike petrol LPG does not require octane boosters to
achieve this rating. Octane boosters are known to contain
various additives such as benzene which is well recognised
to contain harmful carcinogens that can attribute to
potentially irreversible health problems.
Environmental
Benefits – today’s fuel for a cleaner tomorrow...
In New Zealand vehicle emissions have already reached
harmful levels with around 400 deaths reported each
year as a result.
By converting to Rockgas LPG you directly contribute
to reducing these harmful emissions and to maintain
a healthy environment. LPG contains no lead and virtually
no (cancer forming) fine particulates.
The cleaner properties of Rockgas LPG are a significant
benefit to professional drivers, particularly those
who spend much of their time near the vehicle while
it is stationary with the engine running.
Compared to petrol, LPG tail pipe emissions contain:
- 10 – 20% fewer greenhouse gases.
- 20% fewer nitrous oxides and other ozone (photochemical
smog) forming gases.
- Up to 80% lower emissions of ‘air toxics’
(i.e. benzene, formaldehyde).
Compared to diesel, LPG tail pipe emissions contain:
- No visible pollution.
- Reduced particulate matter (e.g. PM10) by an order
of magnitude.
"Whether competing against petrol in light vehicles,
or against diesel in trucks and buses, LPG can match
or better the performance of conventional fuels on almost
all counts."
-The international study Liquefied
Petroleum Gas as an Automotive Fuel- An Environmental
and Technical Perspective by Peter Anyon (Parsons Australia
Pty., 1998).
Save on Environmental Costs
Recent and pending fuel levies on both petrol and
diesel signal the Government’s move to reflect
the environmental costs of automotive fuels. LPG is
clean-burning and more environmentally-friendly. As
such LPG does not attract, nor do you need to pay, these
levies.
Engine Wear
Rockgas LPG is clean-burning compared with petrol
or diesel. Spark plugs last longer and fire more reliably.
Lubricating oil is not washed from cylinder walls by
petrol vapour, and the cleaner combustion results in
cleaner oil that lasts longer. If you follow the manufacturer's
servicing instructions and use Rockgas LPG, engine life
is usually extended with less chance of problems.
